Nomination Detail

Shot documentary style and covertly on the streets of Kabul, Mina Walking traces seven days in the life of Mina, a young girl striving for a better life in a country still severely scarred by the Taliban era. A lively, impulsive, yet ultimately powerless twelve-year-old, she dreams of being a seamstress. However, in order to support her senile grandfather and drug-addicted father, she is forced to spend her days selling items on the street. Her only act of rebellion is to try and attend school in order to get an education and a chance at a better life.
