Rita Walsh is an independent Producer working across drama and non-fiction filmmaking. Following her Creative Arts degree at the Victorian College of the Arts, she worked for former APSA International Jury President Jan Chapman on the Academy Award®-nominated Bright Star (2009), and she also has production credits on Mary and Max (2009), which won the APSA for Best Animated Feature Film, and The Turning (2013), which was an APSA nominee for Best Feature Film. She has also produced short films including Bino (2011), which won two awards at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival, and documentaries including Casting JonBenet (2017), which played Sundance and Berlin film festivals and won the AACTA Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary. This was followed by Buoyancy which premiered at the 2019 Berlin International Film Festival where it won the Ecumenical Jury Prize. She received her first APSA nomination for Best Youth Feature Film for producing Buoyancy.

We acknowledge the continuing connection to land, waters and communities. We also pay our respects to Elders, past and emerging. We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
