Filmmaker and poet Giancarlo Abrahan is a graduate of the University of Philippines Film Institute. His most notable screenplays are Hannah Espia’s Transit and Whammy Alcazaren’s sci-fi feature Islands. For the multi-award winning film Transit, he and Espia were awarded the Philippines’ prestigious Golden Screen Award for Best Original Screenplay. For Sparks (2014), his first feature film as writer and director, he won the Balanghai Trophies for Best Director (New Breed) and Best Screenplay (New Breed) at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
