Trained as an actor, Liang Ming starred in several award-winning films including Lou Ye’s Spring Fever (2009) and Zhao Dayong’s Shadow Days (2014). After turning his interest to directing, he worked as an assistant director on Lou Ye’s Mystery (2012). His first directed feature film Wisdom Tooth (2019) won the Fei Mu Award for Best Director and the Roberto Rossellini Award for Jury at the 3rd Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival, Best Director at the 44th Hong Kong International Film Festival and the 29th Shanghai Film Critics Association Award for Best New Director, as well as was nominated for Best New Director at the 14th Asian Film Awards. It was selected for screening at the Rotterdam Film Festival, the Gothenburg Film Festival, the Shanghai International Film Festival and other international film festivals, and was released in France. Carefree Days (2023) is his second feature film.

We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
