Born in Kanagawa prefecture and raised in Hawaii until 2018, Mihaya Shirata acted in a supporting role in Nozomi (2020), directed by Yukihiko Tsutumi, and acted in a main role in one of the episodes of Almost People (2023), directed by Fumio Moriya. Last Shadow at First Light is her first main role for a feature film.
The Asia Pacific Screen Academy expresses its respect for and acknowledgement of the South East Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
