Writer/director Prasanna Jayakody began his career as an acclaimed and award-winning director in television, theatre, commercials and music videos. He has written and directed three feature films. His debut feature Sankara (2006), saw him win the NETPAC Award and Silver Crow Pheasant (Best Debut Director) at the 2006 Kerala International Film Festival and the Golden Pyramid at the Cairo International Film Festival. He was also nominated for awards at Cinemanila, Chicago and Bangkok International Film Festivals, and the film received an APSA nomination for Achievement in Cinematography. His second feature, Karma (2010), was selected to screen at the Marrakech International Film Festival and 28 (2014), his third feature film, won the NETPAC Award at the 2014 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
