Sophia Sim’s first foray into the filmmaking industry was on A Land Imagined by Yeo Siew Hua (Golden Leopard, Locarno 2018). She then headed the casting team for Tiong Bahru Social Club by Tan Bee Thiam (Busan International Film Festival 2020). She co-produced Nelson Yeo’s short film Dreaming (Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg 2022), and produced Gladys Ng’s Every Floor Looks the Same (International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, 2023). With Jeremy Chua, she co-produced Nicole Midori Woodford’s debut feature Last Shadow at First Light (San Sebastián Film Festival 2023). She also produced, alongside Tan Si En, Nelson Yeo’s debut feature Dreaming and Dying (2023), which won the Locarno Film Festival Cineasti del Presente Golden Leopard Award and Swatch First Feature Award.

The Asia Pacific Screen Academy expresses its respect for and acknowledgement of the South East Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
