Winner, Achievement in Cinematography, 2014

Black Coal, Thin Ice is Dong Jinsong’s third collaboration with director/writer Diao Yinan. In 2003 he shot Diao’s directorial debut Uniform and in 2007 Night Train which premiered in Un Certain Regard at Cannes that year. In 2011 Dong was Director of Photography on Xiaoshuai Wang’s 11 Flowers, which was nominated for Best Children’s Feature Film in the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, and also for Cai Shangjun’s People Mountain People Sea which premiered In Competition at the 68th Venice Festival. Dong has filmed Wang Chao’s Looking for Rohmer.
