Nomination Detail

In the city of Erbil, in an area under constant threat from ISIS, two incredible individuals make extraordinary attempts to support their homeland in a powerful and peaceful way. Nariman, a self-taught pilot, starts a pilot school for children. But after he has a flying accident, many of the children are not allowed to return to the class. Meanwhile, pop star Helly Luv returns to Erbil after a life in exile in Iran, Turkey and Finland. The daughter and granddaughter of proud Peshmergas, Helly Luv has a project of her own that will see her collaborate with people right across the community, from flag makers and fighters to children in refugee camps, taking their message to the world.
