Andrew Pike OAM

Andrew Pike is a film historian and documentary filmmaker. He co-wrote a seminal book, Australian Film 1900-1977, published by Oxford University Press. He has produced and directed many documentaries and through his company, Ronin Films, has distributed numerous Asian and Australian films including Strictly Ballroom and Shine. During the 1980s he specialised in bringing many renowned films from Japan and China to Australian audiences and implemented innovative distribution and marketing activities for which he won the Australian Film Institute’s Byron Kennedy Award in 1986. He directed Angels of War, which won Best Documentary at the 1982 AFI Awards and Best Documentary at the 1982 Nyon Film Festival, Switzerland. In 2007, he was awarded an Order of Australia Medal for his services to the film industry and an honorary doctorate from the University of Canberra. In 2003, he was appointed by the French government to the rank of Chevalier dans L’Ordre des Arts et Lettres for Ronin’s promotion of French cinema in Australia. He is a Board member of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. Andrew served on the APSA Jury in 2009 and recently directed the documentary Emily in Japan which recently premiered in Japan.

Hanna Lee

Hanna Lee is the Producer of Lee Chang-dong’s Secret Sunshine which received the award for Best Feature Film and Best Performance by an Actress at the inaugural Asia Pacific Screen Awards as well as Best Actress for Jeon Do-yeon at the 2007 Cannes International Film Festival. Hanna was inducted as a member of The Academy of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards in 2008 and was a member of the International Jury for that year. She studied Mass Communication at Sogang University in Seoul and received an MA in Cinema Studies at New York University. On her return to Korea, she worked as Festival Coordinator at the 1st Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival and then as a correspondent for Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. She also worked at the Korean Film Commission and was coordinator for the Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy. Hanna moved into film production and worked with critically acclaimed filmmaker Hong Sangsoo as Producer for Turning Gate and Woman is the Future of Man prior to producing Secret Sunshine.

Pauline Chan

Pauline Chan is an Australian-Chinese writer, director, actor and producer, best known for her feature film Traps and director of the new Australian-Chinese co-production Mei Mei, starring Guy Pearce which is currently in post-production. Reviewed as a ‘Premier Australian filmmaker’ by Time Asia, Pauline made Australian history in 1996 as the first Asian Australian appointed by the Governor General as a Commissioner of the Australian Film Commission. Pauline also served a three year term as Vice President of Multicultural Artist Alliance (NSW) and was Board Member of Australian Director’s Guild for six years. For more than 20 years, Pauline has produced and directed films and television programs, many of which were selected for official screenings in prestigious festivals including Cannes, New York, Toronto and London.
