Film Synopsis

In a sunny Turkish village by the Black Sea, five spirited and adolescent sisters find themselves confronted with the restrictions of becoming a woman in a conservative and strongly patriarchal society. Since the sudden death of their parents, raising the girls is left to the grandmother. In order to control the girls and suppress their burgeoning sexual awakenings, the grandmother and abusive uncle confine them to the house. Tensions in the house force the grandmother to commence marrying the girls off one by one. Several of the sisters, not willing to accept this future, buck against this old tradition and begin to plot an escape to freedom.
