Ansgar Frerich finished his training as media designer for picture and sound at the German Public Broadcaster BR. Already then, he began to create sound for films. Till today he worked on more than 100 German and International feature length fiction and documentary films as a sound designer and re-recording artist.  After moving to Berlin, he founded the sound postproduction studio Hörwerk and cofounded the postproduction facility BASIS BERLIN Postproduktion in 2006. In addition, he is partner and general manager of BASIS BERLIN Filmproduktion since 2010. The film projects he was involved in as producer won more than 50 international awards including Sundance, Krakow, Vision du Réel and nominations for Arab Film and German Film Awards. Ansgar Frerich is a member of the German and the European Film Academy as well as the Asia Pacific Screen Academy. He has been nominated twice for the Asia Pacific Screen Awards as producer of Taste of Cement (2017) and Of Fathers and Sons (2018).
