Chin Ting-Chang entered the Taiwan film industry as a camera assistant in 1994. He was soon working as a cinematographer in his own right. He worked with Warriors of the Rainbow director Wei Te-Sheng on megahit Cape No. 7 (2008), which won Chin Ting-Chang several awards including Best Cinematography at Taipei and Kuala Lumpur International Film Festivals.
