Dan Kleinman is a screenwriter known for his genre works in the 1970s and 80s. His student film The Applicant was named best narrative short at the Melbourne International Film Festival in 1968. His first produced feature screenplay was Rage (1972), starring George C. Scott and Martin Sheen. He also contribted to the television series Tales from the Darkside. His most recent film, Tel Aviv on Fire (2018), had its world premiere at the 2018 Venice Film Festival and won Best Israeli Film and Best Screenplay at the 2018 Haifa Film Festival. He has taught filmmaking at New York and Columbia universities and has mentored the Sundance Screenwriting Lab and Alumni of his screenwriting classes include six Oscar winners, from Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, 2005) to Jennifer Lee (Frozen, 2013).
