After his retirement from ZDF and ARTE in 2011 Hans Robert Eisenhauer moved to Berlin and and started a new career as independent producer with his company Ventana-Film GmbH., focused on international documentary-films, including cultural and current affairs TV programs. Ventana’s German-Syrian coproduction, Return to Homs (2013) by Talal Derki had it’s world premiere at IDFA 2013 and received the Grand Jury Award for the best international documentary film at the Sundance Film-Festival 2014. Of Fathers and Sons is his second film with Derki.
