Patrick Mao Huang studied Creative Film Producing at the Columbia University Graduate Film School. Being praised for his distinguished eye for spotting new talents, Huang’s films have been selected by renowned film festivals worldwide and released globally. Huang specialises in international co-production between East and West. Huang is often invited to be a mentor in various international labs and project markets.

Huang founded in 2002 the production/distribution/sales company Flash Forward Entertainment, which produces Taiwanese and international co-productions as well as Mainland Chinese production. FFE is an official funding partner with TAICCA (Taiwan Creative Content Agency) that will subsidise and invest in the co-production projects its partner companies engage in.

Huang’s producing works span from narrative features, documentaries, animation and shorts to drama series. The recent production credits include the 2021 Cannes Un Certain Regard official selection Moneyboys, co-produced between Austria, France, Taiwan and Belgium, and Amanda Nell Eu’s Tiger Stripes, an eight-country co-production that premiered at Cannes Critics’ Week 2023 and won the Grand Prize. As for the sales side, the second highest-grossing Taiwanese film in 2020 – Your Name Engraved Herein – was licensed to Netflix worldwide.
