After graduating with a Master of Arts in European Cinema Studies from the University of Bath, UK, Polly Yeung was mentored by renowned Hong Kong film director Jacob Cheung. Her screenwriting debut was for Rest on Your Shoulder (2011), considered a pioneering hybrid of animation and live-action films at the time. It was selected for competition at the Shanghai International Film Festival in the same year. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, she completed a professional course organised by Unity Technologies for a Certificate in Virtual Reality Application Design and Development. She then produced and created an animated VR project called Silili & Tree (2021). Since then, she has explored ArtTech creativity. The VR project was invited to the Busan International Film Festival 2023 – Community BIFF. Now Silili & Tree is extended to animated shorts. Having co-founded documentary studio The Lady Improper Company Limited with art enthusiast Vien Ip, Yeung made her directorial debut with the documentary short The Cloud Learner (2023) and produced Mexican documentary film The Siren Song (to be released in 2026/27).
