Thai-born Charin Pengpanich was cinematographer on celebrated Thai auteur Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s films Tropical Malady (2004), which won the Jury Prize at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, and Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall his Past Lives(2010), winner of the Palme d’Or. Bunohan is his second Malaysian film as DOP following the award-winning Karaoke (2009).

The Asia Pacific Screen Academy expresses its respect for and acknowledgement of the South East Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We acknowledge the continuing connection to land, waters and communities. We also pay our respects to Elders, past and emerging. We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
