Meteoric star on the rise, Reef Ireland has emerged as one of Australia’s most promising young actors. Twice shortlisted for the ‘Australians in Film Heath Ledger Scholarship’, his credits include the lead role in Downriver, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Kim Farrant’s Strangerland which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Prior film credits include Fell from director Kasimir Burgess, Ana Kokkinos’ acclaimed Blessed, opposite Frances O’Connor, Miranda Otto and Deborah-Lee Furness, Summer Coda and South Solitary. Ireland was also the lead in Director Grant Scicluna’s The Wilding, (the preceding story of Downriver) which won the Iris Prize, the world’s largest LGBT short film prize.

The Asia Pacific Screen Academy expresses its respect for and acknowledgement of the South East Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of country, including the custodial communities on whose land works are created and celebrated by the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. We acknowledge the continuing connection to land, waters and communities. We also pay our respects to Elders, past and emerging. We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
