Georgian star of stage and screen Misha Gomiashvili made his feature film debut in 1992 with the drama Khapangi, followed by Antimoz iverieli (2001), and then his first lead role in Eqvsi da shvidi (2004). He starred in the World War II drama set in a Russian Navy Base Pervyy posle Boga (2005), The Conflict Zone (2009), a drama based on the true events of the civil war in Georgia in the early 1990s, and in the US production about the Russo-Georgian war 5 Days of War (2011), starring Rupert Friend, Val Kilmer and Emmanuelle Chriqui. The President, directed by Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Mahkmalbaf, premiered at the 71st Venice Film Festival in 2014.

We acknowledge the continuing connection to land, waters and communities. We also pay our respects to Elders, past and emerging. We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
