Nomination Detail

Natalia Pavlenkova is an acclaimed and much-loved Russian theatre actress, with an outstanding on-stage career since 1979 who currently works at the Stanislavsky Theater in Moscow. Zoology is Natalia’s first lead role in a feature film, and she was awarded the Best Actress Prize at the Kinotavr Sochi Open Russian Film Festival. Zoology is Natalia’s second collaboration with director Ivan I. Tverdovsky after playing a central character in the APSA-nominated Correction’s Class(2014). Her role as a woman who suddenly grows a tail in the fanciful and daring Zoology follows her appearance in Sergey Tarnaev and Lyuba Lvova’s Winter Journey (2013), a film that courted controversy due to its exploration of Russian taboos.
