Mohamed Bakri is a Palestinian actor and filmmaker. He studied acting and Arabic literature at the Tel Aviv University and went on to star in dozens of international productions. Bakri won the Bronze Leopard Award for Best Actor at the 2004 Locarno International Film Festival for Private (2004). Other notable acting credits include The Olive Harvest (2003), Beyond the Walls (1984) and Beyond the Walls II (1992), Haifa (1996), and Hanna.K (1983). As a director, he has made two documentaries and one narrative feature, Water (2012). This is his second APSA nomination following his 2009 nomination for Laila’s Birthday.

The Asia Pacific Screen Academy expresses its respect for and acknowledgement of the South East Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We pay our respects to the Traditional Owners of country, including the custodial communities on whose land works are created and celebrated by the Asia Pacific Screen Awards. We acknowledge the continuing connection to land, waters and communities. We also pay our respects to Elders, past and emerging. We recognise the integral role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and First Nations peoples continue to play in storytelling and celebration spaces.
