Nomination Detail

When Emine’s husband, Cemal, disappears to Romania in search of work, she finds herself on her own with a sick child in urgent need of surgery. Cemal’s former boss, Ziya, who has long harboured feelings for Emine, pays for the child’s surgery, but when Cemal returns, he discovers what Ziya, who he loathes, has done and the slow-burn psychological drama begins to soar. The seething tension of secrets and resentment amid Zeki Demirkubuz’s eleventh feature film play out within a setting of oppressive Istanbul fog, its characters clouded by the clash between past traditions, damaging patriarchy and evolving modern day social conditions.
