Thanassis Karathanos studied political and social sciences in Athens. In 1998 he co-founded the film production company Twenty Twenty Vision in Berlin and in 2003 Pallas Film in Hallle. He is member of the European Film Academy and the German Film Academy. In 2008, he won an APSA as a producer of Sergey Dvortsevoy’s Tulpan, which won Best Feature Film. Other noteworthy films that Karathanos has produced include Paul Verhoeven’s Elle and Ajami, which was directed by Scandar Copti and Yaron Shani. Both films were nominated for an Academy Award(r). He also helped produce Olivier Assayas’ Clouds of Sils Maria and Centaur, a 2017 APSA nominee for the Cultural Diversity Award under the patronage of UNESCO.
